I/C-Instructional Techniques 1Emotional intelligence (EI), the "ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you…" is an essential skill for instructors. This session will provide an overview of the EI concept, its history, and various models, along with the processes to assess EI and implement lessons learned in the classroom.
At the conclusion of this period, the participant will be able to:
- State the definition of EI
- List the different models of EI
- Discuss EI assessment methods of the various EI models
- Describe how an instructor can use EI to understand the environment within the classroom and adjust/modify their instructional technique to optimize learning
- Discuss how EI can be used to help assess the affective domain of a student
